The Artist
​
I work primarily in watercolor and occasionally with colored pencils. I truly enjoy the experience of watercolor - its organic quality as it moves across the surface , how it respond to 'intrusions' and creates unique textures and interest. Every new work is a learning experience.
​
I am drawn to a variety of subjects, often times animal portraits and interactions. It's always fun to see a personality emerge.
I especially enjoy capturing events that have a unique twist to them, inviting the viewers curiosity about the story at hand.
A smile or chuckle is often a welcome response.
I grew up in Minnesota, attended the University of Minnesota (with a minor in Art History) and relocated to Seattle in 1985.
I returned to school and completed an Interior Design degree. Along the way, many art classes and design projects.
Now a full-time resident on Whidbey Island, I paint from my backyard studio surrounded by the beautiful forest of the
Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound.

I am a member of the Artists of South Whidbey and have participated in art exhibitions at
Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, Whidbey Island Fair and other events across Whidbey Island.
